I'm new here and looking for help. I have a 1999 Ford Ranger 2wd, 2 door, 4 cyl. regular cab, just plain work truck. I want to disconnect the dinger that always lets me know I have left the key in the ignition when I get out and open a door, which is a lot. It now will ding until I remove the key or start her up again. Any help on which wire needs to be severed?

#2...I think the sensor that activates the door adjar light on the instrument cluster has gone bad, the light stays on all the time, even after slamming the doors shut numerous times. Any suggestions which wire to sever to stop the light from coming on?

Thanks for any help. Dakota J.

The wire goes to the ignition key area and is black/pink. For the door ajar light, it's probably the door switch. Spray WD40 in the door latches and open and shut the doors a few times.

Not sure if the truck is the same way cause mines older but ford cars of that era you could find the dinger under the dash by it's noise and unplug it.

I'd rather unhook ther key wire so the haedlight on warning still works. If you don't care if that works the unhook it. I think the 99s had it in a module though.
