daily doubler build

yeah I've got a new slave. I'll try the traditional way again tonight and if it doesn't come then I may have to try and bust up the female end like you said. thanks for the quick replies guys, it's keepin me goin lol.

the special tool that comes with the clutch kit is GARBAGE. I bent the piss out of that little thing trying to get the plastic sleeve in. I looked at my new slave so I see what needs to be done to get the line out but I still couldn't get that sleeve down there. how hard was it to move it? I was pressin pretty dang hard with a flat screwdriver and it wasn't budgin, maybe cause I wan't pushing on the line like metalmac said. I guess I'll give her another go tomorrow
My B2 was a MI truck it's whole life and I just pulled the master and line with the tranny every time. I spent countless hours trying to unplug it before I pulled the whole thing. I wish now I wouldn't have waisted my time trying. RB

yeah I wish I would've done that. I couldn't get the connection apart so I had to cut the line. called ford and it's 90 bucks for the line. I wish I would've cracked the bleeder to relieve any pressure inside the slave and tried the fitting again before cuttin it. oh well, the damage is done.

tranny is out, TO bearing was so bad the rollers fell out when I pulled the tranny out. inspected the pilot and the needles were filings as well. picked up the new line from ford today, 97 bucks. I'll get my new flywheel tomorrow then the reassembly begins, assuming I can get the pilot's outter shell out of the crank

This might be to late for you, but hopefully someone this can help someone. The two best tools for the fancy fitting thingy is wd-40 and air. soak, blow out, soak, try to spin, blow out, soak work back and forth, blow out etc, etc. The part you are spinning and playing with is the white ring. If you do this for 5-10 min you should be able to pull the quick release fitting apart quite easily with just a couple of small screwdrivers.:icon_cheers:

that may have worked for some but I feel mine was far too gone. I got the new line and compared it with my old line and the white ring on my old line was pretty ate up compared to the new one.

anyways I got the clutch done and everything back in. shifts like a dream ha. sooo I'll be back on schedule here pretty quick. next on the list is to fab up a new shifter to mount my sweet shift knob to. pics to come :)

got the shifter built tonight :headbang:

here's the shift knob I went with. I thought it suited the build since I'm now, oh, 2.48 times more likely to grenade parts :)

it's a real grenade, drilled and tapped. pretty sweet I thought. anyways on to the fab

started with a piece of .5" solid round stock and the previously modified shift linkage. measured and bent the rod, then welded it to the linkage after removing the stock shift arm.

cut to size, cut the head off of a bolt and welded on, cut off the old shift arm pivot, grinded, and notched the linkage so it would work with the huge relief I put in the tranny crossmember.

its a bit tall I think but I love it. I can still pull it out and shorten the arm in the future if I want.

lol I never thought about that. oh well FTP!!!

lol I never thought about that. oh well FTP!!!

haha, i say FTP all the time! especially at 3AM like it is right now, and especially to my friend that is a cop.. lol

but honestly it does look badass, hopefully things DON'T grenade though!

another thought: if a cop does see it, just pull the pin and watch him run!

lol I'm glad you knew what it meant. I usually scream it at random during conversations about cops with friends and they're like wtf is that haha.

yeah hopefully things don't grenade but I have a MUCH higher risk now. after getting the knob on I took it for the first trial with actual 4wd. my dad had a tractor tire sitting on the ground, I put it in double low and let it idle up it. I know I would've had to slip the clutch and give it quite a bit of gas to get up it before. I can see getting wedged between a couple rocks and my axles snappin like toothpicks lol

that'd be great!

you should get the factory 4wd boot to finish it off.i love the shifter,it helps you remember what the doubler can do to your drivetrain lol

I think I may. there's a member on here that's local to me that has one. I could get it from him and see how it looks.
