daily doubler build

Made it to autozone. Here's the list of codes:

P0141 - Heater condition (Heated oxygen sensor - Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0453 - Fuel tank pressure sensor condition
P0443 - EVAP purge/vent solenoid circuit condition
P1504 - Idle air control circuit fault
P1451 - EVAP system canister vent solenoid circuit malfunction

I'm not worried about the EVAP stuff. The IAC fault is probably what causes the low idle - it shouldn't effect normal operation of the engine right? Just at idle?

Which sensor is the o2 sensor code referring to? I only have one one each side, just after the header flange. It says "bank 1, sensor 2". Is it referring to a sensor that would be after the cat? If so, would it throw off the engine performance if it was gone? Cause I don't have one. Didn't have one with the 3.0 either.

edit: did some research. The P0141 code is referring to the downstream sensor - which I don't have. That's good since there's no more codes for the upstream sensors - they must be wired correctly and working. Bad news is I still don't know what's causing the engine to fall on its face.

I don't think the charging system is working either.

After the mud run in Rausch Creek mine started running like ass.... bogged and sputtered under load.

Pull the MAF and the moisture off the wet airfilter had turned the dust on the sensor wire into a paste throwing off the readings. I cleaned the MAF sensor wires as best I could using a VERY light wire brush and it ran GREAT after that, might be something to look into.

Good call. I've got MAF electrical contact cleaner or whatever. I'll pull the sensor and give it a good cleaning.

Bank 1 is the passenger side of the motor (cyl #1-3), sensor 2 is the second sensor (after the cat), if you don't have this plugged up, it will run rich (no biggie) I have all 3 of my O2 sensors not reading, 6 of my codes are for that (O2 sensor and heater circuit malfunction for each of all 3 sensors), but I still have decent operation from mine, so I agree with Andrew, check the MAF....Also on the plugs, I believe the switch to DP's were 95+ years, since the ignition system is different...

I would check your plug gap also, make sure it is correct. Maybe give it a quick look over for vacuum leaks while you are at it, those would be my guesses.

I gapped the plugs before installing them. I've got ~80 miles on it. Hopefully they're still fine. I bought a new IAC since that was throwing a code. Gonna toss that on and see what it does. Then clean the MAF and see what that does. Then I'll consider new plugs. It really is acting like its a spark issue though. Almost exactly like what my 3.0 did when the plug wires went bad. Its just hard to accept that since I've got new plugs and wires on it.

I'm hoping the vacuum lines are good. There aren't really that many, but I'll check em out.

Figured out my charging issue. The alt plug came undone. Must not have clicked when I plugged it in the first time. :homer:

I'm thinking more of a gasket leak. And just clean the IAC before you put the new one on, it is just a valve and really you can run without it, just have to turn your idle up.

Hmm, gasket leak would suck. All of my attempts have resulted in fail. I went ahead and bolted on the IAC, nothing. Cleaned the MAF, nothing.

Its wierd cause its not consistent. Even when it does stumble under load, it does just that - stumble. Not a consistent miss, just every once in a while. Sporadic.

What are the chances of the deal the plug wires plug into being bad? When I replaced the wires, two of the terminals on that box were corroded super bad. I cleaned em up, and put dielectric grease in there before I plugged the wires in.

Troubleshooting blows.

this truck makes me drool..... i want one.

Build one. I did. :D

A new ignition coil is 100 bucks. Fark. I almost feel like I should replace it anyways, since it was so corroded. I don't trust anything on this engine. Its got 120k miles on it, and it has sat for 3 yrs until I put it in my truck. Hmm.

i'm building a b2.. that 4.0 is awesome ain't it!

Not yet. Its still got some issues. I'm workin on it though.

messed up 4.0 is probably better than a top notch 3.0... lol j/k...

that 4.0 really woke up the b2 tho.. its awesome. good luck sir. its an awesome truck. i'm gonna keep up w/ your updates. but for now its time to go to bed lol.

Pull the wires and check the resistance if you have a meter.

as for the coil before spending 100 bucks I don't know how much they are in jy's around here but if cheep just go grab one and toss it on to try it
