D44 TTB common gears?

I think that the most common gears in the D44 TTB has got to be 3.55 because i cannot locate anything else around here. I am looking for a 9.75" with 3.73 and would like a matching D44 TTB ..............

which brings up another question ....... is the D44 TTB a drop in 3rd? is the axle from the 97+ F150 also a D44 ? Would that be a drop in?


I currently have 3.55 and I either need better gearing or smaller tires (currently 33x12.50/15) Smaller would just look funny on it.
 
I had a 93 f150 x-tra cab, that had 4.10;s in it with the 5.0L auto, and 33's and it seemed under geared to me. And the motor had all the "bolt on" helpers there was, edleborck headers, under drive pullys(junk), borla exuast, etc and a jet chip, along with some tranny control thing.
unles I was doing 60 plus O/D was pretty much useless if there was any type of hill or grade.
If I was to gear one of these trucks(the map trucks) I would look in to 4.30's or 4.56's for 33's.
Once they went to the MAP system, they came alive. and got better millage to boot. And 4.10 are right at home with them. but I belive the MAP trucks also got the roller cams as well.

any how my truck got a whoping 10-12 mpg. for that amount of gas I thought it was a pig, and it went by the way side.

any way, yes the d44 TTB's are drop out units just like the ranger d35.I read something one time where you can put a D50 center section in to a D44 beam.

I am swaping in a MAF 351 and it's also OBDII

but yeah thanks ....... you should try 5.0L on 33"s with 3.55 ............. 4.10 would be alright of i can find one, thats what I need to correct to gear it back to factory performance with the 33"s........ I was actually thinking of dropping to 31"s for the 3.73s because I don't really need 33"s but they are only like $7 difference a tire between the two.

I thought the 97+ F-150s were 8.8" IFS... Not a D44 IFS...

could be IDK, but considering that the all the 4.6L and 4.2L F 150s I have been looking at have an 8.8 rear ........ including 2 i have recycled in the last year.
 
For the record there's no such thing as either 3.55's or 4.10's for a dana 44

C-L-O-S-E, but no cigar...

what they do make are 3.54's and 4.09's
they also make 3.50's (to match the common 9" ratio)
and 3.00 (to match a common D60 ratio)

I know 373's are made for the REAR 44 axle, as I had my hands on
a set in a '98 WJ yesterday...

On the WJ the only reason I was in there was as I was
walking throuhg the u-pull-it I noticed that this 5.9 powered
WJ had Yukon axle shafts in it... thinking there might be something
"interesting" inside I pulled the cover... only to find nothing more special
than a D44 TracLok...

picked up a 351 from a 97 2wd F350 with 90,000 miles on it for $450 + my 302 core. the engine is complete with intake and exhaust manifolds........ still looking for a 4.09 D44 and a 4.10 FF 10.5" sterling.

because the engine was already out of the truck and the body has been recycled I need to figure out which harness and computer I need..........
