D44 nondisconnect?

depends on what aspect you mean... the 8.8 is much more common of a diff, as it was used in damn near everything from the mid 80's to the late 90's... and dealerships stock spider/side gears for them still, for less than 100$... so in that aspect, i would say the 8.8 is better... but strength wise? absolutely the 9" is stronger

I have a f100 axle and it's 60", but I think it's older that '67, it's a 28 spline
my waggy front is 61"

If your looking at 8.8's, get an explorer rear axle with disc brakes - and the're 31 spline

I think the 9" is slightly stronger that the 8.8, but both can be had with 28 or 31 splines stock, so a 31sp 8.8 would IMO be stronger than a 28sp 9"

I already have an 8.8.. I need something stronger. I found a few 9"s and Waggy D44 fronts. It seems like a solid combo for some trailing..

Weezl- I'm not worried about abundancy/cost of parts. If I have to pay a little extra to get a solid, strong axle, I'm okay with that.. I just hate trying to look up this stuff and not getting any definite answers because every website is different.

9">8.8 strength wise, hands down... it's one of the best axles ford has ever produced

Yea, now it's just a matter of finding one that's the right size.. And having people actually know what size the axle is they're selling..

You could find a 9" from a 66-77 bronco. Their 58.5" wide, and have a healthy aftermarket for parts.

Yea, I know.. They're just not around this area and I'm not looking to ship an axle.

Makes sense, at that age finding one at a local jy would be rare. And Id imagine shipping something as large and heavy as an axle would be pricey.

One of the local 4x4 websites I'm on is mostly Jeep guys so I can get right sized parts through them.. Actually, I bought the Ranger through them
