anyone know the part number for the crush sleeve from Napa? they don't have it listed on their site, and last time I looked they only listed a couple of the seals...

I need to put my 5.13's in soon, will need the sleeve as I didn't get an install kit (the pig is in great shape)

so do you already have new bearings and shims to do the install? if not those will be included, as well as a crush sleeve.

I'm going to reuse all that... the front axle I have was pretty much unused and clean, it was just there for the ride on the explorer I got it from, gear oil was clean.

I dont think you understand....a gear install isnt just a bolt in affair, you CANNOT just unbolt the ring gear, bolt on the new one, and press bearings on pinion. You have to reinstall the gear set, setting backlash and ensuring a proper pattern. You NEED shims and such in order to install the gears....I dont know you, but by the sounds youre over your head. Correct me if Im wrong.

I have the shims and such covered... I have a friend that has successfully installed several gear sets and has lots of parts on hand, but that doesn't include a crush sleeve for a D35 ttb... none of the parts stores I have looked at have them in their system, the best Napa said they could do is measure the one that's in my diff if I took it in, which sounds like the route I'll take

for the record, when my friend set up my rear axle he pretty much bolted in the ring and pinion and it had a good mesh... just reused the stock shims

that and it's a front axle, it's not going to get 100k on it or anything and never exceed like 45mph engaged...

Dealer can get get them.

And just for the record I got a damn perfect pattern and backlash with my d35 by reusing the stock shims.

99% of the time if you put the stock shims back where theyy caame from everything will work out and be 100%, Besides, The dana 35 uses shims OUTSIDE the bearings not between the carier and bearing. I too am with you in thinking why not spend the 100 bucks while its out buts its not 100% needed.

yeah, I understand, but I'm on a budget, the rig I got the pig out of has 200k on it, but when I got it the transfer case didn't work, the guy I got it from didn't look like the type to take it offroad or in the snow (although it was from Kansas at one point), there are dings in the skidplates underneith but when I pulled the pig the oil was clean except for the little bit of black that was completely settled in the bottom probably from the gears breaking in...
