d35 axle widths

i have herd that the front d35 axle in the 3 gen 1993-1997 rangers are wider then the 1 gen 1983-1988 and 2 gen 1989-1992 by 2 '' just woundering if i can use the fronf axle from a 1993-1997 in my 1986 ranger , thanks for any info

The D35 is wider than the D28. The D35 did not have different widths, they are all the same.

Yes you can swap the D35 into your truck without any issues. You will need the steering linkage from the d35 as well, and your front drive shaft will need to be shortened 1 - 1.5".

thanks , by the way how much wider is the d35 then the d28, also is the front drive shaft u joint size the same on a ranger with a d28 as a ranger with a d35
