I had little time off and decided to add a little armor for the aluminum D35 housing and the yoke. The only thing I am not sure about is the color.lol

Its all 1/4" plate and protects the entire diff and yoke.

I used cardboard to for a pattern. It took a while to turn the cardboard into 1/4" steel, but it turned out pretty good.

It uses a 3/8" 3.5" muffler clamp around the pinion bearing and I boxed in the clamp's saddle, and then it uses the 5 lower bolts from the diff.

Very nice. Good, you replaced the bolts too with (I assume) longer ones. :icon_thumby:

Only thing I would probably do is gusset that flat plate a bit under the yoke so it won't bend up into it if a rock hits it.

I used bolts that were 5mm longer. After I got it all painted and mounted I realized I need to add some gussets on the rear plate. I probably wont mess with it until I hit it on something. It is pretty close to the rad arm, so I think the arm will take the brunt of anything big.

That looks really good.

I like how you added the extended part to protect the drive shaft.

Looks Awsome!! i've been wanting to build one with the scrap steel i have laying around but am just too busy lately. Soon i hope.

Very cool design! It'll be a darn shame to see that pretty paint get scratched up :icon_thumby:

any chance you want to build another one and sell it to me?

i really like that. i'm with beaterman, i keep wanting to build some armor with some of the scrap steel in the garage but i just don't seem to have the time.

looks great tho, tell us how it holds up

I had to take my skid off so I could tack another one together. I decided to go ahead and add the gussets to mine and the new one I was making.

I dont have any pictures of it on the truck since the paint was still drying when I left for school.
