This is probably on this website somewhere, but i've yet to find it. I'm doing a D35 and 8.8 swap in my B2. I'm wanting to run 33's, its a 4.0L conversion with the a4ld. What gears do yall recommend? ratio and brand. remember this is also a daily driver. Thanks

When I figured out what gears I'll need for when I throw 33s under I came up with 4.11, which means I'm going with 4.10s.

Here is the chart that will show you where a given gear will put you by tire size:

As for brand, pretty much any brand advertised here is good stuff. Yukon is the only one popping to mind at the moment though.

4.10's will give you decent highway mileage, 4.56's would be good if you just drive around town but you'll be spinning the engine pretty quick if you ever hop onto the interstate.

i get alot of interstate time in as well as around town. I'm thinking 4.11's. Yukon gears are good. Are there cheaper brands that ppl have ran without problems?

I have 4.10s in my 4.0 B2 with 33s and I really like them.I also have 3.73 35 and 8.8 sitting in the yard but love those 4.10s.Ive also been taught recently the used dana 35 4.10 market price is pretty high.It sucks there higher than everything else but for me there just right.

Personally with that combo I'd go with 4.10's. Purely not for performance,
but because you can find stock axles, if you're lucky, with the gears already in them.

I say go with 4.56's your A4LD will be happier with you. Also they will be easier to find, than the 4.10's and be cheaper. 4.10's for a D35 TTB are rediculously high priced for some stupid reason.

I don't care for my 4.10s so much (and my 33" Goodyear MTRs are a tad on the smallish side too... more like 31.5").

Go 4.56. You'll be much happier, even on the freeways.

I already have the axles. Disc brakes in the rear off a 97 exp. Gonna be nice. But I gotta buy gears bc the donor 93 exp had 3.27's. Thanks for the info. I'm buying gears. I gotta stay practical with this. What kind of mpg can I get with 4.56? I'm thinking 4.10s will fit me well.

mpg's will be better around town with 4.56's, but better on the interstate with 4.10's

I doubt you'd see much, if any difference in MPG really... I have a buddy that has 4.56 gears in his 4.0 Ranger on 33s, and very often we both put almost identical quantities of gas in when we stopped for fuel. Didn't really matter if we were running long highway trips or doing a lot of around-town driving.

You certainly will see a difference in acceleration however. His truck was just a hair faster off the line than mine, and his is a Supercab too (heavier).

Hmm. I might go with the 4.56's then. If it doesn't hurt fuel mileage that much but gets slightly better accel (and by extension better towing) I might have to thing about that.

with 4.10s and 33 I am running my motor hard to get to 65 - I do get 16-18 mpg. 4.56 would make it a bit easier on the motor. My 4.10s look to be stock ford gears

i'd go with 4.56s im running 4.88s in my xploder with 35's

it had 4.10s with 33s and was a slug of the line to me
