I figured you can pick them up for cheap because you can get them all day long but will they hold up to 35s?

i abuse my trucks but not overkill and it will eventually be street driven as well. will it hold up?

and are coils or leafs better? and if coils; which coils should i run to clear 35s?

You are pushing the limits of a stock d30 even with the larger (760) joints and are losing the ability to unlock your hubs (unless you have cash to burn on a conversion kit). Coils or leafs will work, what is better is usually a matter of opinion and skill. If you can honestly say you abuse your truck I would recommend you look into a d35 or if you are determined to use a solid axle, a 44 or a 60. Last thing you want is to get that d30 in there and eat shafts like a fat kid eats sausage links. Cheap is great IF it will be durable enough for your application.

alright..it looks like im passing up this idea

The D30 ring & pinion is what you'd need to worry about with it under a Ranger, not the shafts. Go with the D35 or bigger.
