d30 sas steering?

thx Danger...

Escort, somewhere in ur build thread you mention that you wanted to try a beefier tie rod end. I reamed out my stock pitman for a tie rod end from a full size chevy, it would work fine but my pitman arm is messed up from running the jeep end in the early stages of my sas. Have you every considered a YJ setup?

Heres a flex shot for you...I love my ability to flex out now, 1020 score on a RTI ramp...

Ya, I'm running the jeep TRE in my pitman, need to swap it out for the rangers before it wallows it out though it fits ok but due to the cold, snow and no front drivshaft, it isn't getting driven hard.

I have yet to flex mine, can't find a spot to do it.

plan on getting another pitman arm, I did the same thing, ran it on the jeep tie rod end and wallowed out the hole. Right now mine is alll apart, and thinking goin YJ steering...

I would like to have something better, beefier than what I have. Just dont know what to look for. For some reason I just cant think what a YJ steering looks like, I'm sure I seen it before mind is blank right now....

I was told the left side TRE (passenger) off the TTB front will fit into the D30 steering linkage but when I went to do that, the threads were backwards but wanted to get her back on the road so bad that I didnt try the driverside one which has the threads going the opposite way of the passenger. I have the next couple days off work so I may do it then.

Here is a shot of a full size chevy TRE next to the ranger TRE. The good thing about the chevy (and maybe other are like this) is it allow full 360 deg rotation...

BTW, both TRE's are welded to adjustment sleeve to work with the jeep drag link...

the chevy TRE is the same thread size as the ranger?

I don't think so....1 ton chevy stuff is 7/8" 18TPI whereas ranger stuff is like M22x1.5 (Right) or M20x1.5 (left) depending on which side?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

I never said 1-ton, i said full size as in 1/2 ton. Its very close, and I bet if someone did some experimenting, they could find a match. The 1/2 ton TRE is too long but maybe something else exists close to it???

My bad. Looked like a 1 ton in the pic next the the RBV one.....

I tried every tie rod end on my steering when i did my swap and NONE fit the jeep steering. I went to the part's store's but no one was up to the challange of finding the right part's not that we didnt look. this is the reasone i decided to go with crossover.

If you do run the jeep inverted Y you need to reinforce the tie rod as i have seen multiple one's bent and had to straighten/reinforce 3 so far for jeep friend's. all we did was straighten what they had and weld angle iron along length of the tube to give it a little more backbone
