Hi there all!! i have a question that i could not find the answer to in the tech library.. With a newer D35 out of a 97 explorer going into my 83 do i need the d35 TTB beams? or can i just purchase the D35 differential/axels, And use my D28 beams?

a 95+ explorers use IFS instead of TTB. if you really want the IFS you have a LOT of work ahead of you. if you throw in a d35 ttb though yes you do need the beams too

Huh? You read it wrong.

He has beams from an explorer he is swapping into his ranger.

Yes you need to move everything over, not just the axle-shatfs. The D35 third member won't bolt to the D28 beam, they don't share a common bolt pattern, or number of bolts for that matter.

Swap everything over. :icon_thumby:

so, yeah, if you're wanting to throw an IFS under there, you have a lot of work ahead of you.

Thanks for the response guys!!! So do i need a pre 95 front suspension complete to do the d35 swap??
Ifs would suck!!

'90-'97 Ranger, '91-'94 Explorer, for a D35 TTB axle (don't forget you need the steering linkage too).

Beware of so-called "hybrid" D28/35 diffs in some '93-'97 Rangers, you don't want those (the page 88 Eddie linked above also shows how to identify them).

Thank you Thank You!!!!
I'm going with the 94 explorer front end.. Got a 8.8 out of a 97 explorer coming soon too!!
Will the 94 explorer front springs work too??
How about the Rear leafs?? what explorer yrs work?
Thanks again everyone for your fast responses!!:headbang::headbang:

explorer coils will give ~2" lift, same with the leaf springs. On the leaf springs, any explorer with leaf springs... 4 door springs are a little better so I hear...
