I didn't know where to post this......

I need someone who has taken out their D28 and D35 to weigh it and give me the weight. I know you guys have had them out to either rebuild it, lift it or replace it (Mark?). They're (2) sections and small enough you could actually weigh each side with a bathroom scale.

I've been putting together a list of axle assembly weights. I still need those two, a Rockwell 2.5 and Unimog 404.

I didn't put this in the Ranger axle forum because the people who might have axcess to weigh one probably don't use them anymore or have a need to view that forum.

Thanks.

In a few days I can get you the weight for an IFS Dana35 if that helps any

Shit and I just sold off the old D28 that had been sitting around here for the last 3 years (although then again, there's no bathroom scale here in this house either though  ).

I know they're somewhere in the vicinity of 225-250bs (complete), the D35 probably has around 20-30lbs over the 28, but I don't have any actual exact weights :(

I have a D35 out. I don't have a D28 out, but I have one. I'll weigh the D35 tomorrow if I remember. It's going to have the radius arms on it though.

I put up some transmission and transfercase weights somewhere on here. That would be good to have as well, dontch think?

I got this from Jim Allen:

Ranger D28 & D35 TTB' (D28 center section only= 45#)/(D35 center section only= 44#)

I'm wondering if he's got those numbers backwards though....

4X4Junkie, 200+ seems high. Supposedly a 7.5 weighs 130#'s without the brakes. Jim sent me axle weights, but most of them are without brakes.

Will, I want to collect any weights I can get. Where were those?

I'd like to have engine weights as well. It would give someone a good idea how much weight they'd be adding taking out there ?.? and replacing it with a ?.?.

d28 with brakes, hubs and radius arms- 80lbs pass beam,150 drivers side on old bath scale. d35 probably getting on tward 300

130lbs doesn't sound too far off for the 7.5", I was thinking about 140 or so (170 with brakes).
The one side of the D35 is f***in' heavy. A lot of it's weight is in the cast knuckles, spindles/rotors calipers, etc. (rickcdewitt's D28 figures total 230lbs (or what would be about 215 without the RAs), I got no problem believing it)

I have a complete BII 7.5 here still, I'll see if I can rig up some way to weigh the thing. A 8.8 can't be more than 20-30lbs more, I'm thinking.

I can have some weights of a 7.5, 8.8, D35 and a front and rear 2.5ton rockwell in the next few days or so. I just need to figure a way to weigh the rockwells though, I don't feel like driving all over town with those in the bed I know that in stock form they are around 1000lbs a piece.

I have my d35 in parts, so I used a cheap shipping scale(pretty much a over price bathroom scale)

and came up with 225lbs total with the warn jeep hubs.

the pig came in at 46 lbs with 4.56's open and the short axle shaft thats held in by the c-clip...

I never weighed the 28's when I pulled them in the ranger or the bronco....I couldn't throw them away fast enough!:D

Ok here are some rockwell weights.

Front axle with no drum brakes or backing plates: 670lbs
Rear axle with no drum brakes or backing plates: 500lbs

Each drum brake and backing plate assembly is approx 80lbs so 160lbs per axle

The axle weights are as close as I can get with the axles being weighed by subtracting the weight of my truck on the scale.
