hey guys i almost done swapping a d35 in my 88 ranger...are the brake calipers the same from a d35 to d28? the d35 i got was from an explorer so it has the pin type mounting for the calipers...are the brake pads the same? im hoping to just leave the calipers on there since they are alreayd blead...thanks.

if it is from an Expo, should be twin piston caliper.....so, no your D28's won't work....

bleeding brakes isn't hard to do.....plus the added stopping power, especially with larger wheels and tires is a huge benefit:icon_thumby:

i thought the twin piston calipers were only on the explorer calipers that bolted up instead of using the slide pins..?

up to 1994 explorers used split pin calipers just like rangers do for those years. I'm running 1992 explorer calipers (and IIRC pads as well) on my D28 because my oddball 86 calipers would not work with my extended brake lines. In 1995 explorers went to a SLA suspension setup that did use a twin piston caliper that did not use split pins, Rangers also used this style caliper on the TTB from 1995-1997
