I have a 86 bronco II with 189000 miles on it. The heads are cracked. How much longer do you think it would last if i just put new heads on it?
thanks

If the bottom end is in decent condition you could probably double your present mileage.

I just sold my 90 2.9L Ranger & it had 360 000 kms & is still running strong.

forever and ever...... just ask dustin.

depends, whats the compression like?

Im not sure what the compression was. Any suggestions on cylinder heads? and how much they cost.

World Products. Pretty much the only company I'd trust. You can use bare heads and recycle what parts are still within specs, or they offer complete heads with all the parts ready to go.

I've been looking at those for awhile now and i cant ever find how much they cost. all i need is the cylinder head no valves or anything else. how much does that normally run?

Ran me about $180ish for a pair of bare heads. SHIPPED!

They had these on clearance due to a severe overstock a while ago. I called the company directly and asked them for a quote when I was told of the special.

you got them directly from world products?

Directly from World Products. Their online 'store' I believe Bill Mitchell products only lists the complete units for about 750ish a pair. When I called world products and talked to one of their sales personal I mentioned I was on a very tight budget, and he stated due to overstock? They put the bare heads on clearance until the stock was back to a reasonable level. If they are still on "overstock"? Depending on your location (UPS charge to my area was pretty low, for being in NYS) The shipping charges will vary. I'd recommend 'em, and I have a set on my 89' Bronco II as we speak. So far so good!

i was at a machine shop a couple days ago and the man told me if i put new heads on without rebuilding the bottom half it will give the block to much power and end up messing that up...is that true or was he looking to make money?

Not sure about that claim LOL. How can bringing the top end of the engine back into spec screw up the bottom end? It's not like these heads are Uber Performance super spec Power Makers.. They are just built to specs, with the steel thicker in the known problem areas. They are not changing any of the compression ratios...So unless there's already a problem with the bottom end? It shouldn't harm anything. Just have to ensure any parts you recycle are within specs..and replace the parts that are to far gone to reuse.

thanks for all the help

Tedybear is correct. These heads do not increase power, they correct a problem known from the stock Ford heads. If the bottom end is still good, slap some heads on there and drive it forever. Trust me on this though...do not drive it once you know the heads are gone.
