cylinder heads international?

MAKG gave me a heads up on "cylinder heads international" being crap. anyone have any good experience with em? anyone else have more bad experience? Any other suggestions on where to find some rebuilt, I just can't afford world heads as much as I'd love some. 88BII has been my daily driver for 14yrs. I don't do anything extreme with her and do everything to keep that 2.9 cool so I don't think I have to worry alot. DD, fishing trips, camping trips, a little mud fun.

I ended up having MY head rebuilt by a local machine shop. I had the works done; this head was WORN. 6 valve seats (hardened), 12 valve guides, positive seals and a quick shave. Ran about $400. It would have been substantially cheaper if I'd just done the CHI thing and refaced all the valves and called it "good."

Once upon a time when I had cracked 2.9L heads, I exchanged them at a cast iron welding shop (Excelsweld) in Oakland. It held up for more than 100,000 miles, until the cam died and the then-owner chucked the engine for a 4.0L. I don't remember what I paid for those, but it was by far the cheapest solution at the time. Though I didn't have to pay shipping; Oakland is about a 90 minute drive and the owner even met me halfway.

the world heads are good strong casting. i have a set off my last motor. i hope to put them on a rebuild if i can ever afford it
