I have a CV rear drive shaft in my '86 BII. I've seen mention that these are considered the "tulip" style. Looking to get a 4" lift installed under her, haven't decided on a manufacturer yet. Is there a bolt up universal joint shaft that I can pull from a junkyard without mods? What would it be off of? Thanks.

I guess another question would be, how have you guys dealt with the rear CV drive shaft with a 4+ inch lift? A couple manufacturers state that anything over 2 inches requires replacing the CV drive shaft. Anybody just leave it stock? Are the new angles really that severe to worry about? Did you have to go custom?I just want to do my lift right the first time and not F anything away.

All the builds where they tried to use the stock shaft resulted in destruction. I would take it out before so you could maybe make some money back selling it.

I have 3in blocks out back & found a driveshaft out of a 86 BroncoII @ a local junkyard. It had u-joints & has been working fine for about 15k miles. I made sure I got u-joints with grease fittings as I'd rather grease them myself as opposed to trusting the "lubed for life" ones. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. That's exactly what I wanted to know. I'll keep my eyes open for a u-joint shaft. Probably running down to a Pick and Pull yard next weekend to pick one up, if I can find one. Any Ranger shafts bolt up or am I looking specifically for a Bronco II rear with u-joints?

Thanks for the link Dealer. I think that's the route I'm going to take unless anyone else has any other suggestions...

I didn't think to look and see if u had the a4ld or fm146, that shaft setup will work. If u have the fm145 or c5 u can use a 1354 front yoke on the rear and u won't have to cut the cv part off
