So I'm new to this site and also the ford ranger so please excuse me if this thread is in the wrong location and/or if this has been disused elsewhere.

I have a 99 Ranger XLT 4X4 with independent front suspension. This truck has a u joint at the axle and a ball style cv joint at the transfer case. The cv is completely retarded and I was wondering if it could be switched with something with u joints on both sides. Is there a different year drive shaft that would fit? Please help. Any thoughts or opinions would be awesome. Thanks:icon_hornsup:

It is set up that way to reduce/eliminate vibration.

You could retrofit the older version, but you'd either have to replace the front Txfr case yoke or replace the whole transfer case....to effectively downgrade your performance.

Go junkyard shopping and look at <96 Explorers. I think that setup will bolt right in. Don't look at the V8, just the 4.0 Explorers. I don't know what year Rangers to look at.

Welcome to The Ranger Station!

Superlift also sells a shaft that has u joints on both ends.

Yea...My 95 explorer 4.0 has the double cardan upper joint setup. I would assume it would bolt in, but havent tried.
