Cutting floor hump under window?

Ok, I've got a 95' standard cab, manual trans, ect, for which I just finished modifying an older box for a 12" sub. Well, I wound up having to make it deeper than I wanted, so now the seats are up too far forward.

My question is, is it possible to cut out and re-weld the hump along the rear of the cab? Not the one under the window on the wall, but the large one along the floor, right to left. If I could cut it out and weld it back in flat, that would buy me 4" of height to lower the box and scoot the seats back.

im not saying yes to this for me getting sued reasons. but large body parts are bent in shapes for a few reasons. one to provide clearance for stuff the other and more importantly in this case. is to provide strength, large thin metal isnt very strong. so they put bends into it to give it rigidity. so you have to make sure removing a bend isnt going to take away from them support of the body.

There is a frame cross member under there I believe, not mention the cab mounts are under there.

Hmm...that's what I was afraid of. I knew if provided structural rigidity, but was gonna do some reinforcing to compensate, but I didn't think there was anything inside that hump...darn.

Hey, just thought I'd let ya'll know in case anyone else wanting to do this stumbles upon it. I did some measuring under and in, and found out that, yes, there is a crossmember under the hump, and the two cab mounts. However, the middle, 17" from each side's outer door frame, can be cut and lowered 2" and still be above the crossmember with nothing else interfering.

Gonna be doing this myself in a day or so so expect a WIP.

post pics, and make sure you do it 110% right, don't cut any corners... we're looking forward to it :)
