Yesterday I was down at the local wrecking yard looking for body panels to replace the damaged ones from my accident, and bought a new hood. I am planning to design and build my own custom hood design. I think Im goint to use a hardened foam to keep it light, and seal it in body filler, and follow it up with a purdy, smooth layer of fiberglass. I have never done custom body work and am looking to learn. If anybody has any better ways to go about this, please chime in and let me know. And throw in any tips for glassing and molding as it is all brand new to me.

I'm planning to make it sort of like the hoods the Shelby GT-H has, only slightly tweaked more aggressively to compliment the ranger, as I love that car, and get to drive one at work. Here's a link to one below:

Thanks everyone, And have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hood scoops from Autozone. They add about 10HP and don't look cheesy at all.

Alright, I'm done being stupid.

Lol, Look in my avatar, those stick on scoops are currently on my trashed hood, time to step it up a notch, real CUSTOM hood. I want it to be something people dont ever see on a ranger. 100% one of a kind ranger.

Do u want it functional? The mustang hood is a heat extractor hood. (allows air to flow through the radiator smoothly and the heat through the top of the hood)

I think that the first one wont be functional. But I will have the bent up hood as a second project. Its not too beat up, and I actually think that with a little heat, time, and care it could be brand new. If I do a second one It will DEFINITELY be functional. I'm thinking something along the lines of the GT-500 hood. 2 big functional scoops will make it a bunch harder to get structure to the fiber glass. So Ill Need to get a bit more experience before I get ahead of myself and start ruining good materials.
