I was just wondering if anyone had plans or good ideas for making a custom bumper with a winch mount?

thanks for the help :icon_thumby:

There's quite a few nice bumpers that have been made with winch mounts. Here's mine......

Dang that thing is flippin sweet. Do you have two batteries for the lights and winch and all?

Thanks. Nope, I only have one good battery. I haven't had to use the winch for recovery yet so I'll see what happens when the time comes. As for the lights, there's currently no battery drain or alternator issues at all when they're used.

Bumpers

Any good 4x4 fab shop could make then for you.

Mine are made from 2x4 1/4" wall rectangle steel welded too the end s of the frame rails and gusseted with receivers in each for my winch.
Can send pics too your email.

heres my buddys f150 it only cost hmm nothing cause he welded it at school and he worked for the material

those bumpers are pretty wicked. i like how the winch is sort of out of sight when set up and not just sticking out (Thumper113), but at the same time I don't know if I want a pre-runner bumper because it's still my DD. Any other ideas out there?

the pic was taken on Razor Rd. in belfair he wanted some senior pics so i told him to do doughnuts around me

Here is a crappy pic of mine, I can post up a better one later with the winch installed...

The body is made out of 6"x6" square tube, 1/4" wall, the brackets are cut from 3/8's plate. The winch mounting surface has an extra 1/4" plate welded on it to make it 1/2" thick (overkill), and where the tow hooks are mounted it is 3/8's plate doubled up to make it 3/4" thick (overkill). Never weighed it, but with the 90# winch installed, I can pick it up and bolt it in place by myself, so i doubt that it weighs much more than 200# or so.
