Anyone else watch this?

I think it's in its 12th season... I've patiently watched all previous 11 seasons and I hope this is the year they solve some of the mystery of that place.

I've watched a few episodes over the years. Don't subscribe to any of the services that air it, so it's just episodes I find to stream for frewe online at that time.

For me the entertainment isn't what the find, but the mental gymnastics that they do to try and justify it. Well that and the fake drama that they inject to amp things up.

I think the island probably has an interesting history, but I don't actually think they are going to find a "treasure". Everyone needs a money pit, mine is a few vehicles, they just happen to have more to available to sink and an island to do it on.

i worked with those guys years ago in michigan.

good dudes.

watched a few shows. a whole season or two early on... very educational the ones i had watched.

seemed a waste of money to me.

Don't forget to drink your Ovaltine and be sure to tune in next week!

Do they still make Ovaltine?

I really think they will find treasure.

This seems like it would be a good time for one of those inspirational quote pics. Something along the lines of: "The real treasure is the memories and friends you make along the way."

Of course you could also go with that other quote: "One man's trash, is another man's treasure." In which case they've already found plenty.

I've watched it and gave up watching. Those guys have spent a fortune hunting for a fortune.

I watched the first 4 seasons then gave up. I have checked out a few episodes over the years after that. Definitely some interesting history and I have some family history with Nova Scotia. I'm skeptical about a treasure still being there if there ever was one. I'm thinking their making something off of the series and all the little spin offs. Seems like a popular formula for these networks. At least we know Al Capones vault had an old bottle in it...

This is the real treasure. Wonder what the profits per episode/season are? Lol

I've watched a few episodes here and there. The show strikes me as being the same as Expedition Unknown, where they never find what they are supposed to be looking for. A complete waste of time, on the part of the viewer, and a complete waste of money as far as producing anything. I'm sure the people in the show and the company making the show are quite happy with the money they are making.

I liked Expedition Unknown even going into it knowing that they'd never find anything notable. I don't necessarily agree with being a waste of money either. It serves a purpose to provide exposure for the topics and locations covered, and that can provide more benefit than actually finding something ever will. Programs like that have inspired many people to get more involved in history and archeology. Expedition Unknown travels the globe and a topic of the week (or weeks), and goes places that I'd never get to myself. Much like why I like youtube channels like ItchyBoots or Desert Drifter. I also like the history aspect of it, even the more questionable stuff is fun to listen to.

That's all based on seasons 1-3 since I haven't been able to find the rest available anywhere without paying for it. I have issue with paying subscriptions to half dozen streaming services to watch a handful of shows.

With Oak Island everything is on or centered around that one location. The entire drive behind it is legend. It is interesting to see what they do find when digging into the history, but much of they present is pure conjecture and long stretches to try and make connections. And again, everything is centered around that one location and its history. Yes, the show might drum up interest in the legend, but it's difficult to inspire others to get involved when they own the place and control who has access. Most of the support that it gets is in the form of heavy equipment companies doing work, which is more about advertisment for them than support for the project.

Anyway that 2 more cent from me on the subject. If this keeps going you might have enough for a dime.

Agreed... them deep diving the origins re-writes history.

There has been a lot of treasure found there. Not so much in recent history though.

They recently have done water testing in many of the bore holes. Modern testing methods have found traces of silver and gold in their samples. When asked if those traces could be generated by a treasure chest with silver and gold... they said no... more like a pit dump truck full.

Where's my Ovaltine and is it Tuesday yet?

Trace gold and silver can be naturally occouring. That's actually more likely than it being dissolved treasure. Doesn't mean that there is a treasure deposit, more likely that there are naturally occouring deposit in the area.

Well... I guess the expert has spoken.

Maybe you should just give them a call and explain that they're completely wasting their time.
