Alright, so ive not been able to get any information on this item so far and hoping someone will know. What is that piece of metal in front of pitman arm, which sits behind the bumper. Its kind of an oblong shape. Im also curious if I can just cut it off if its not important. I have a custom bumper which will protect the pitman arm if that piece is removed, but if its holding the frame together id rather keep it lol. thanks for any help.

I believe what you are referring to is the guard that protects the linkage from damage. I'm sure you could cut it off since it is just part of the excess metal that may or may not actually serve a purpose...but I'd recommend leaving it there since it actually was part of the original design to try to keep your truck functioning longer.

I still have mine...you don't see it as much if the front air dam is still in place...if you are looking for ways to dump excess weight you might look at the jump seats first...there is about 100 lbs of metal and padding there that I've never used and can't think of stuffing bodies back there due to the limited space...I'm sure someone has tried to have Ford charged with Cruel and Unusual Treatment of passengers for the design....

I feel that man, my buddies ranger has the jump seats but when i bought mine it no longer had them. but its not so much weight that im looking to decrease i was just wondering if it was important enough to keep or get rid of. Thanks for the info though

I like sitting in the back. You just have to have the front seats far enough, and no body else back there.
