My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I have some stuff to sell. Some of it will be obsolete to me after my engine swap project. Posting now because I will be traveling to western PA in a few weeks. So, that could save somebody some shipping costs. There is more available from the '96 Explorer I'm parting out. Some things have not been harvested yet. If there is something from that that you are looking for, just ask. The Explorer was running and driving when I started disassembly. All prices negotiable within reason. Parts currently near Spartanburg, SC.

1996 Explorer PARTS, 251,431 miles;
AWD transfer case $150?
Ford 8.8" axle, 3L73, disc brakes - needs at least one brake rotor. Have not opened diff. Complete from flange to flange. $250?
Left rear light assembly, looks brand new. $15 (right side available but looks original)
Front differential, 3.73, Dana35 torsion bar style. $100?
Lots of interior - gold/tan color - carpeted floor mats, dash parts, seats, etc. Front seats have power everything bit need reupholster job. Window control switches. Just ask. Some stuff good. Some broken.
1993 3.0l V6 with M5OD-R1 and 1354E transfer case. Currently 188,000+ miles. Still in truck and running strong. Will include transfer case controller, dash buttons and 95% or more of the wiring harness. Also, ECU and engine harness. Fan clutch and mechanical fan gone. $750?

M5OD-R1 with 1350 manual transfer case, including shifter and linkage. This is a setup for 2.3l 4-cyl. Engine - starter opening on passenger side. $350? See my other ad.

1350 manual transfer case with 90% shifter and linkage. I need to look closer if someone is interested. There is enough there to get the shifter working. $150?

1350 manual transfer case, no shifter or linkage. $100?

Miscellaneous 3.0l V6 parts - crank, cam, pistons/rods, oil pan, etc. ASK

I.... may be interested in the manual 1354 case. Need to look if my swapped trans has mount holes.

I have no doubt in your ability to add them if it doesn't.

I wonder how hard it would be to pull everything out of that 2.3 transmission and put it in a 4.0 case. I'd love the lower 1st gear.

It's real easy, just a matter of disassembling both and reassembling one. You'd need new main & countershaft nuts, seals, etc.

No special pullers for that?

Just a torch :icon_welder:

If you want to reuse the giblets you will need a puller and a pretty big wrench however. :icon_thumby:

I have done quite a few. Id actually like to put 4.0 gears in my 2.3 truck now. The 3-4 gap in a 2.3 trans sucks.

Gentlemen, i just realized that I mistakenly said 1354 in a couple places that should be 1350. Edits have been made. Sorry for the confusion.

If you've got a bearing splitter, a steering wheel puller, and a couple pieces of allthread you can get the rear output shaft bearing off. That's the most annoying one due to how far down it resides on the output shaft. The rest can be removed the same way and you can press them back on with an appropriately sized piece of pipe and a hammer.

You do need a way to measure depth for shims (cheap digital calipers usually have that feature.) I would plan on needing to re-shim the input & countershaft. Also you need a very long 55mm socket or a wrench and a 32mm (or is it 33...?) socket for the main & countershaft nuts. Otherwise it's just basic hand tools.

Still interested in the t case... let me check my sh*tbox

I had dreams of building a doubler. That's why I have the 2 separated 1350s. The one mated to the M5OD was somethjng I saw on Facebook and couldn't let it go to the scrap yard.
