Curious about possible suspension options [91 XLT 2WD]

Sorry, I'm afraid I may need a translation here. I'm not sure what "Cobra R knock offs at about 8" and put some 65's on'em" means! lol
Cobra R Knock Offs =.

Usually 17" in diameter by 8"-9" wide.
65's on'em = a 65 series tire
You can pick the thickness of the sidewall ( example 195/65R17 )

Here is a Cobra R with 255/45R17.

Thanks!

So would I need to lower the front 2" as well? And wider tires means different wheels, right?
Lowering the rear only, about 2" should level the truck up. a lot of guys on here will Lift the front to level the nose with the rear. Lifting the front to level the truck allows for bigger tire to clear. Lowering the rear to level the truck leave the front where it is, so clearance shouldn't be an issue.

Not enough sidewall for me.

Great, thanks! What numbers do I need to know when shopping for wheels?

You need to know the Factory offset for Rangers. and the offset of the Rims you want. They should be within 5mm + or -. There is a whole lot of info in the tech Library at the top of this page.

If you wanna use it as a 'shop truck' I'd lower it all the way around 2".

That way you'll keep the factory rake, and the truck will simply level out with a load in the bed rather than be squatted.

It'd still have enough clearance to be worthy of hooning down a maintained dirt road if you wanted, but handle way better on pavement and get a bit better fuel economy to boot.

I personally don't like those steelies as much as the Mustang wheels posted earlier.. lowered trucks should have some nicer aluminum wheels on them.. save the Steelies for a wheelin rig. The aluminum wheels would likely be lighter, increasing performance and economy slightly too.

How about some 'bullitt' knockoffs?

Step 1 : those wheels gotta go. Seriously, they're ugly. and they have the word "poop" on each one of them.

To respect the feelings of those who designed those wheels, one should use more appropriate terms like 'excrement' or 'feces'. It's more technical and respects their engineering abilities.

Ha it's because their not Ford, right? These are the first negative comments I have received about them!

Personally, I’d put a 93-94 Explorer limited grille on it, a 93-95 Ranger 4x4 fog light valance under the front bumper (see the red truck above), and some Cobra wheels ( not Cobra Rs, because I don’t like them… I’d go with ‘99 Cobra wheels, they match the boxy body style better than the Rs.)

Disclaimer - I only recommend these items because I have them sitting around in case I come across a clean 89-92 for sale.

Sorry I didn't use an emoji. It was a joke!!

Thanks for all of the input. I am starting to wonder if all I need to do is swap out the wheels and tires and keep the suspension stock (replace it, but with stock parts). I am not seeing much out there that makes me want to deviate from it.

I was making a joke about the "Jeep" font and how it looks like the word "poop"
