Hi there,

I have been slowly working on this truck and need to replace the suspension system. I realize that this may be an opportunity for some upgrades.

I enjoy the stock stance but want to make sure I consider all non-stock options that would give a similar result. What options should I consider to give a nice close-to-stock stance? I am not interested in slamming it or doing a big lift but will consider minor changes.

Thanks!

I think it all depends...

What's the end game you have in mind for the truck?

I just want it to be a clean, "run around" kind of truck. Maybe improve the speed and handling a bit. I want it to be able to handle the occasional dirt road, but for the most part it will be on the streets.

Step 1 : those wheels gotta go. Seriously, they're ugly. and they have the word "poop" on each one of them.
Step 2 : Decide if you want a little lift, or a little low.

Haha I actually like the Jeep wheels! Definitely a little lower rather than a little higher.

Just saw this pic of a 2 inch drop, which I like.

Coil spacers in the front... "level" it with just a bit of lift.

That 2" drop looks like it just dropped the rear? Not much in the front?

I'm not a big fan of dropped trucks, kinda reduces its usefulness as a truck but I guess you could put air shocks or something on the back so it's not dragging on the ground if you haul something.

Either way... good shocks (KYB, Bilstein, etc) and new bushings throughout will make a huge difference.

Thanks for the ideas. Yep, I think it only lowered the back - good eye, I couldn't tell.

Maybe "shop truck" is the look I am going for? Just something a little more aggressive/"athletic" than bone stock.

I realize I have no idea what I am talking about, so thanks for your patience. I love this truck and want to get it looking and running great.

Also curious to hear what @Ranger850 was going to say.

He was going to say something in Floridian, thats for sure.

My vote is for 2" lower, 2 sizes wider tire, nice shocks, rear sway bar.

Boom. Perfect.

I go for the lowered/street look myself. I'm not an off-Raoder at all. A lot of the guys here go for lift and off road capability, I go for looks and performance. I am no expert on either tho. I would get some Cobra R knock offs at about 8" and put some 65's on'em. Then work on the front suspension for "handling"

Sorry, I'm afraid I may need a translation here. I'm not sure what "Cobra R knock offs at about 8" and put some 65's on'em" means! lol

So would I need to lower the front 2" as well? And wider tires means different wheels, right?
