Curious about my enine sound

Why does my 3.0 sound like a dam vacuum cleaner....especially when i first start it up.... Not just mine either, my g-pas 92 Expo 4x4 sounds exactly the same...

i wished i could figure that out too bro, my 4.0 is doing it in mine but only when it wants too.. it hums real bad from the intake, my buddies told me my air filter was stoppped up but hell it doesnt have 2000 miles on it yet.. imma change it soon n see if that helps..

sure its not just the fan kicking on for the first few seconds for the self test? mine does it to. 97 4.0

well, the sound of a vacuum cleaner is pretty distinctive.... lol I dont believe its the fan. This is kinda louder then the motor when i first stat it up... NOT experiencing any mechanical problems though...Like I said, my G-pas' Expos has always done it since the day he took it from the dealership.....

im sure mine is coming from the air filter box, is suckin hella air and it doesnt do it if i un clip the box and hold up away from truck
