Any info on what types of exhaust setups there are for the 3.0 ext cab, 1999 btw.

how much hp/tq can be gained....how does it sound....butt dyno? size piping? headers? any info would be great

There really is only one type of exhaust... One that goes away from the engine... I'm confused about your question... Search... In the exhaust forum...

Im talking about the exhaust pipe itsself...................like mufflers, cat backs, headers, down pipes.... after market stuff for performance......

this setup for example....click

it possible without much fabrication to do a dual setup on a 3.0 if its stock 1 pipe out that rear passenger side?

I'd go to a exhaust shop and ask... I get all my exhaust work (I don't own a welder) for $200 bucks flat + whatever muffler I want to run... Sound is one of those things that's subjective, you may not like what I do... You won't gain that much power on a stock engine unless you do a complete header back exhaust (do they even make LT headers for a 3.0?) Look in the exhaust section for a lot more info than what I can give you...

$600 seems kinda high for a DIY kit... I usually leave exhaust to the experts because I don't have a tube bender, and that just seems outrageous for a kit I have to put together myself...

new headers, and all the way back would be nice

thanks guys, ill check the exhaust section out

you arent going to get any butt-dyno worthing improvements in power from an exhuast setup. if you arent doing it for sound, dont do it at all.

I agree with Wicked, but if you are planning on going through the trouble of doing more than just swapping out a muffler I'd go ahead and do a header back exhaust if they even make headers for the 3.0... Being that your truck is a 4wd, I'd look for some long tube headers if you can find them (supposedly help create lower end torque)... Exhaust is really one of those things that helps all the other mods you do (port and polished heads, cam and whatnot)...

jba makes good headers for the 3.0, pacesetter and heddman offer some too but they dont help any, just make the engine bay a lil hotter. friend of mine tried all 3 thinking the jba were just knockoffs but they were the best by far. only prob is the chrome discolors and are $$$$$$$$$!

yep just took my flowmaster off cause of some issues with the clamps rusting and after putting the stock exhaust back on idk if its in my head or not but my engine feels more peppy, i originally had the magnaflow on my truck and took it off cause it sounds like complete garbage(honda civic with a fart cannon, everybody thought i had a 4cyl truck), the flowmaster sounded beautiful, like a V8 at idle, and alot more gruntier at acceleration.

I got a magnaflow and i think it sounds good, low rumble at idle and doesnt sound bad at 4500RPMs either.
Beef

I'm running a set of JBA headers with borla dual exhaust. Sounds really smooth and pretty deep. The cat-back alone didn't do anything, but when I added the headers it picked up a little in the mid-upper rpms. :)

but as for what the other guys said, do it for the sound.:icon_thumby:
