-mine is IF I swap a '92 Ranger s/c 4.0 into a '89 Ranger s/c that has the 2.9.... the '89 HAS Cruise Control, but the '92 does NOT. since the cruise works on intake vacuum and has its own separate electrical wiring coming out of the cab/dash, do I have to worry with IF the donor vehicle Has cruise or not????

make sure it gets the vss signals on the other side of the swap. depending on your methodology of wiring its something that can be bypassed. iirc you have the rectangle old school style, i do not recall the specifics off hand but i have added them to trucks that came with no cruise before and it was simple enough.

You should be fine.
The cable from cruise control actuator to 4.0l throttle linkage might not have the same fittings, but you should be able to work something out.

You are not swapping transmissions so speedo and cruise will work as before.
As said above you may need to get the VSS/speedo cable housing from the 4.0l trans(or use the 4.0l trans)
Look here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/speedometer.shtml

The computer and newer cruise controls used the VSS(electronic pulse) to get speed but speedometer/odo still used the cable.
Combo unit is 3rd and 4th pictures down in above link.

Older cruise only used the cable, it went from trans to cruise actuator and then a short speedo cable from actuator to speedometer.

In 1995 all Rangers uses VSS only, no more cable

depending on the wiring scenario...he could exclude the vss signal from the cruise module, which is why i mentioned it...sometimes you take the wires for the pcm.

or maybe i should put it this way.....i fawked that up a few times myself over the years and thought it worth mentioning....:D
