My cruise control cable is starting to fray, damn thing almost blew up my motor when the throttle got stuck on the floor. I don't want to disconnect it though, since I drive 70 miles a day for work. Anyone have one for sale?

I got the entire cruise control assembly out of an 87 B2 at the junkyard for my 88, but i didn't look for any spares.

Have you tried the local salvage yards or eBay? There's even used parts sellers on the internet that are tied into the national salvage parts databases.

Do you have a part number to search with?

I tried Ebay, but no salvage yards yet. The ones around here charge you a fee just to look around, and they don't have a lot of rangers. I don't have a part number, either. I found the servo reman, but not the cable

i am out of town.....its possible i may have one. but i unloaded tons of stuff the last few years.

My service manual calls out #9A825, but there's always some sort of prefix that varies depending on model and year. Searching "ford 9a825" should get you started in the right direction, at least.

The full part number should be molded into the old part.

I have one that I don't think I can use. It's in one of my 4.0 swappped 87s.

$20 and a shipping address and she is yours.

well, i dont have one....actually i have several, just not that style.

Ok thanks for checking. I clipped the frayed parts off the cable and lubed it up, and bought some time with it. But I still can't find one.

Find guys on eBay that are advertising parts for a similar vehicle and send them a question about your part. Do this to 10 or 12 and you will find what you need! Even though they are not advertising it they do have your part. It has never failed to work for me.

thanks, Jim, I'll try that. The salvage yards don't have anything, so I might install a universal system.
