Hello all, I'm patiently accumulating parts for a 5.0 swap into a '97 2WD ranger. I intended to grab an 8.8" from a Ranger or Explorer someday, but found a great deal on some cop car diffs with disc brakes. A 97 and some 98-02 rear axles are available for $100 each. The latter are said to have Watts linkage, don't know what that is though.

Would these work for what I'm doing? I believe that the P71's axle is 62.8", and the ranger diffs are 58.5 (from reading on the net).

Thanks in advance for info.

The Vic's used a 4 link coil spring suspension. Not really worth the price. The Explorer 8.8's are the best deal, most have performance ratios, all have 31 spline axles and many have trac-loc diffs. The Vic and Ranger 8.8's are 28 spline and few had trac loc diffs.
