crower camshaft kit?

Is it an entire cam kit or just the springs?

thats just the springs you need the cam itself buddy. im considering a crower cam for my next 2.3 build, but if the tuning device im about to purchase works i may consider doing a stroker motor but still using the crower cam. keep in mind when installing a new cam you need to purchase the cam and lifters together as they break in together. another thing to consider is what lifter style your truck has/you wish to use. there are several options: flat tappet, hydraulic roller and solid lifter roller. 89 upwards 2.3 ranger engines have hydraulic rollers, 2.3 mustangs didnt get them until 92 (keep in mind in case your looking into a headswap.) make sure the cam you select matches the lifter application and while your at it new springs/valves/bronze valve guides and valve seals wouldnt hurt either. you can have machined in oversize valves as well, the new valve guides have to be installed at a machine shop as well. lots of work involved in swapping a cam and selecting the proper one for what you want takes some homework as well. be reasonable with what you want and continue from there.

I know this is an upgrade cam shaft thread, But I am replacing the cam shaft and lifters on a 1983 2.0 eng. Ranger. If any one has a how to on doing this replacement, I would appreciate all the info. you can give me, and if there are any other small tricks to make it a little easier. I am helping a friend who need this done to his truck. Could use all the help we can get.

Thanks, All...................

Its really an easy job, if you replace the cam, you will need new followers, and lifters arent a bad idea either.. All you have to do is take the timing belt off, valve cover, followers out, and the 2 #3 phillips screws holding the camshaft retainer on the back of the back cam tower. All of these are covered somewhere in this site.

Hooly revival of and 3yrs/old dead thread.
