Long story short, my 92 ford ranger ext. cab decided it couldnt go over a curb and my cross member under the rear of my tranny ate it made my face do this :shok:. bent it out of shape that my grandpas auto shop cant bend it back. pushed my drive shaft up alittle to make it rub. anyone know where i can get a new cross member or a used one, and can any other ranger years cross members be used? not many salvage yards around here have 92 rangers

I think pretty much all 1st and second gen RBV cross-members are the same, maybe ever into later years.

Are the frame and mounting ears ok?

Well no problem to the frame but the rubber on the mount is torn. and my transmission wiggles a little bit. its up at a my grandpas shop right now. so im waitin to hear from them

A new mount is cheap, and I think there was a trans x-member for sale on here recently, go check the sale forum.

i know i used a crossmember off a gen 1 or 2 on my 97 when i did the v8 swap. i had to drill some extra holes in the frame but it worked. and i think the tranny mounts are pretty close to being the same or they are same throught the years!

you should be able to find one local. check your 'yards for explorers, rangers, and bronco 2's

in the foreground is a crossmember from an '87 Bronco II. I have test fit this crossmember on a tk4, tk5, fm, and a4ld trans. it fits them all.

in the background is a tk4 trans mount from an '84 Bronco II. this is commonly referred to as an "inside the framerail" crossmember. bolts directly to the frame, no rubber bushing. this was only used in the earlier years, not sure of fitment on later years

They couldn't figure this out at your Grandpa's auto shop?

Did you guys realize that you resurrected this from two years ago?...

Does that mean someone actually USED the search function?!?

HAHA! I had not thought of that! Now I feel like a bit more of an idiot...:icon_twisted:
