critique needed on my coil buckets

please excuse the booger flux core tacks and camera phone pics. coil buckets are a couple inches wider for a 78 full width 44 going into a 97 2wd ranger.

made from 3/16"x6" flat bar. i want to mount using 4 grade 8 bolts from the side, and 2 from the bottom. possible add another piece of plate along the back of the coil bucket like on the bottom to mount on the top of the frame rail.

coil buckets will be taken to a professional to burn them together for good.

and advice is appreciated.

I think those would be fine if you bring your side gussets all the way down to the bottom so that you don't have that ¾ inch or so of unsupported plate before it goes under the frame rail.
Also, I'd add a piece of metal across the upper outer edge to support it from bowing upward from the spring pressure.

yeah i intended for the side gussets to come all the way down, but somehow got my numbers off . and adding another 2.5"x6" plate along the top will take 30 seconds, so ill throw that on there. thanks

They look good, I wouldn't use that welder to burn them in though. Weld them all the way, inside and out too.

No I'll definitely take them to a pro to burn them together. Instead of drilling one hole on the top to locate the coil in the bucket, would it be safe to make a slot instead to allow for some adjustment of the coil away from and towards the frame? Assuming I use a thick flat washer under the hex bolt...

No I wouldn't do that. I'd be afraid of it moving.
What type of spring are you using?
Jeep, eb, ranger, etc?

I'm planning on jeep xj/tj coils. cheap and i know they flex well, where as i don't have as much experience with the f150 or eb coils

I would just mock it up and mark the holes, then drill it out.
