Alright so I have a 96 4x4 4.0 supercab.

I use the truck to tow 3500-4500 pound loads occasionally. I want to be able to take it off road every once in a while, but nothing crazy. I also may need to install a snow plow on the front sometime.

With that being said, I would like to fir 31" tires on it eventually when it comes time for a tire change.

I would like to do the explorer leaf spring swap in the rear for a few inches, as well as stability while towing/ handling a load- I see that it will give me roughly 2.5" is that correct?

For the front, I am confused-

I found a set of 4" coil springs from superlift. Can I just bolt these in, get it aligned and be good to go? Or do I need the other components that come with the kits?

What about F150 coils? could I use these instead?

Would this setup be leveled out?

Thanks!

i believe the 4in coils need drop brackets for the radius arms. also the explorer leafs will net you a max of 1.5in lift. get some belltech 6400s for 3/4s of an in to 1in. then maybe another lift block is in order. if you tow that much you may want to look into airbag or load leveling of some sort in the back then not sure for a snow plow. there are a couple dudes that have them on their rigs. dunno who they are but go for it

lifting it too high might be a problem when it comes to mounting the plow. you might have to fab in brackets that will lower the mount. i would think you could fit 31" tires with a pretty minimal lift on your model really. might want to think about a pair of Add-a-leafs for the rear, then a leveling kit for the front. that's assuming you're using an equalizing hitch for all that weight you're towing.

So it would be safe to purchase these 4" lift coils? I wont need any other parts to lift the front?

I notice that the lift kits come with brackets for the front? Would I need these or not? Thanks!

If you buy the 4 inch coils you will need the drop backets for yout ttb.

If your goin to go with 4in coils you will also need the ttb drop brackets, radius arm drop brackets, ext brake lines, shocks. Also it would be a good idea to get the camber alignment bushings. You would be better off to buy a complete lift, its cheaper then tryin to peice one together yourself. F-150 coils will work but it would involve some modifications to your coil buckets.

Just get a set of leveling coils (skyjacker), and put the explorer leafs in. You'll clear 31's like a champ.

Get an alignment when done. Cheap, simple and effective.

if your gonna plow i would get heavy duty front springs, jc whitney sells them, they lift it 1.5 inches like a leveling coil but there stiff.
in the rear if u can get the springs out easily u can do explorer springs but i bet the bushings are so siezed up its gonna be more of a pain in the ass than anything. A long add a leaf will work good for the back

Ill look into the heavy duty springs for up front-

For the rear, Im sure Ill be able to get them out- a nice mix of ATF/Acetone applied every day for a week, plus my IR2135 impact gun should take em out nice and easy- Its a southern truck from georgia its whole life.
