Crazy Transmission Idea

This may seem a bit 'back-woods', but that's me.....sometimes. :D The manual transmission on my '94 leaks. Is there any fix for it? Until then, in order to save having to climb under the truck and borrow someone's syringe to push fluid in the Fill Hole, I came up with an idea.
I thought about threading in a fitting into the Fill Hole (maybe nylon) that would accept a clear vinyl hose on the other end. I would run this tubing up into the engine compartment where it would be much easier to see and and much easier to fill. However I just had a thought: is it possible, and damaging, to overfill the transmission in this manner?

1. Does your transmission have a vent hose?
2. Just how much does your transmission leak?!?

Lucas makes stop-leak products that will NOT harm your transmission but will NOT rebuild your transmission. Depending on what you use for a lube in the transmission you could add ATF stop leak (if you use ATF in your trans) or Engine Oil stop leak (yes, that's right) if you use a traditional gear lube. These products are thick, swell gaskets and seals, and will seal SMALL leaks. Worth a shot.

My guess is it is leaking either from the output shaft seal or, worse, the input shaft seal?

p.s. I could see that clear plastic tube falling against a exhaust pipe, melting and, well, you can guess the rest.

Well, rats!! I thought I had a good idea........oh, well. I think it leaks a lot, but maybe not. I had it parked on a clean surface for about 20 minutes and had two Half Dollar sized spots........plus one for engine oil.......one for radiator......
Where do these transmissions leak? How well will the StopLeak work? I don't know about a vent hose, haven't seen one yet.

Did you READ my post, Scooter?

I don't think the M5OD's have a vent, they vent through the shifter...

the easiest way to fill these is to just pull off the shifter, once the boot is loose it's just 3 bolts holding the shaft seal down, with the shifter in neutral just pull up, but if you are adding fluid in a lot this will be a pain... the other option is to take the cap from a gear oil bottle, a chunk of 3/8" clear tubing and stick that on the bottle of ATF then squeeze that to fill it... WAY easier than many other options.

where is it leaking from? and what fluid are you putting in? if gear oil is put in instead of the ATF it's supposed to get it can degrade the 3 shift rail plugs to the point that they fall out and they are known to die that way if you don't keep fluid in them. Other than that, it's either loose fasteners or bad input or output seal as said earlier.

They are most prone to and more commonly leak out of the shift rail plugs. It seeps out and travels down the sides. Makes it look like a seal some times.

bubble gum and or play-doh. LOL Seriously I filled all my manuals by removing the shifter plate on top of the tranny. Theres two parts, theres exposing the shifter linkage and actually exposign the inerds. But you dont want more than 1/3 fluid in there, its specifically to keep the gears lubed and cool, but too much fluid will place drag on the gears and kill your mileage.
