So my truck is making this weird noise when it is in gear and the clutch is pushed in. It sounds like metal popcorn bouncing around in a garbage disposal. Still runs and drives fine, but i don't know what it is.

sounds like somethings loose on the countershaft, seeing as its only in gear. some one confirm or correct me.

I'll correct you.

He says: Clutch IN (Pedal down), Trans IN GEAR

the input shaft isn't turning.

It's a clutch problem

Foreign material inside the clutch
cracked diaphram
Bad T/O bearing
Cracked Marcel spring

Why not crawl under, pull the rubber inspection cover and take a look inside and see if you can see anything obvious?

Removed access cover nothing visibly wrong.

Removed tcase and transmission. When removing the pressure plate bearing material started falling all over the place (explains the popcorn noise). Flywheel was worn abnormally and had heat cracks. The clutch was worn accordingly with one side worn more than another. Resurfaced flywheel, replaced clutch and put it all back together.

Significant difference in drivability and clutch feel. Enjoying the fruits of my labor. :icon_thumby: Just wish it wasn't on my birthday weekend. :annoyed:
