Crash!

Some Lady rear-ended me on friday, and pushed me into the car in front of me. Not much damage to the front of the truck, totalled the navigator that hit me and dented the back door on the van in front of me. The tail gate is pretty well smashed along with a few other things.


I really am not too worried about the damage as it would be cheap for me to fix myself, but the estimate was $2654, so i think they are going to try and total my baby. bad day today.

if they total it buy it back and use the money you get to fix it. you could have money left over. post some pics of the damage.

insurance lady called me this morning. she said she's gonna send me a check, so i guess they aren't going to total it! yay! Long travel, fiberglass and more parts for turbo swap on the way! haha. awsome.

Negotiate. You take the truck to a few body shops and get estimates. They HAVE to pay that amount. Don't just take their word for it. Prices are set on the local market. I was in a crash. I went to four body shops and took the highest two estimates. They payed the lower of the two. It was still a lot more than their estimate. Glad to hear that your alright. You can fix metal.

thanks, ya the crash was really not that bad for me, little sore but no one was hurt. and the insurance lady wanted me to go to a particular shop for an estimate. Also i don't want a higher estimate as i'd like the truck to keep a clean title.

A higher estimate will make it more likely that it gets totaled. Thats why you don't want to do that. 75% of the value of the truck should be the maximum that is handed out. Over that, and they write you a check for the whole vehicle.

ya the guy at the shop that estimated it said he pout it at 71%, was nice guy, think he was trying to hook me up.

hey man my truck is getting worked on right now. the estimate was $4981 and they guy said it would probably go up from that too. luckily i have full coverage and my insurance is paying for it all. i was able to drive mine but im damn glad it wasn't totaled.
