Crankshaft sensor question

I have a question about the crankshaft sensor on a 95 Ranger 2.3 engine. It was dumb, but I broke off my old sensor when taking it out and drilled the old one out. Is there anything that the sensor connects with inside the engine besides the large metal gear on the crank? I was wondering if anything could have been damaged when the old sensor was drilled out. The truck was firing before changing the sensor, now it isn’t. Thanks.

If your sensor is still at the same exact location, everything should be fine, it isnt connecting to anything else, just read the crank gear position...

I tore it down again to make sure all of the old sensor was gone. The truck is firing but won't start. I changed the plugs. The old ones were flooded with gas. It doesn't act like it wants to start at all.

I'm wondering if my timing belt might have slipped? Any ideas? Thanks.
