Crankcase ventilation filter

i'll try separating the url, maybe that will work. Here's the first part:

and here's the second part. join the two, without spaces, and you will see the picture.

[ u r l ] put link here [ / u r l ] try putting it in between the html codes and remove the spaces

Got it. It appears to be the pcv valve housing. I have never known anyone to remove or replace this except on some motors when running a big turbo and they have ran out of room. All you should have to replace is the pcv valve that fits in there and connects to the hose. They are pretty cheap at any auto parts store.

The link for the pic works from my email but not on the actual site

I found the html tags

I found this thing referred to as the crankcase ventilation filter in my Haynes manual, but found no instructions how to clean it. I'm just soaking it in paint thinner and will shake it real good before letting it drip dry for re-installation. I'm cleaning everything before putting it back on the new motor.

A lot of black junk came out of it during the cleaning. It can't be taken apart, although I tried pretty hard. It has a machine-pressed joint. couldn't loosen it. I think it's there to stop oil splatter from getting in the PCV hose and clogging it. From \what I could see, there's a series of metal plated running horizontally, with little holes in them. those will stop some serious hot oil splatters from reaching the hose. The black junk is probably baked oil drippings, 'cause there's a lot of heat down there.

ive always had it known to be an oil seperator...so you dont have one being sucked past the pvc into the intake manifold only way that oil would be able to get up there really is under full throttle conditions...i have never been able to figure out sells it either, but it is possible to get it out on the truck i have dont it many times

boosted is a different situation with this

Ahh...... I right clicked and double clicked....
It is indeed and oil separator for the PVC valve.
