Earlier today I replaced the timing belt on my '94 2.3L and everything went well until reassembly. The little aluminum bracket that holds the crank position sensor broke an ear off when I was reassembling it. I rushed down to the local bone yard and grabbed another. Great, until I'm putting the crank pulley (mmm I wanna say mount) back on. Everything goes back together smoothly but when rotating the crankshaft even with the sensor loose still, it pinches half way through the rotation. It's fine in the beginning but binds up half way round. I've heard of this alignment tool for this but I can't find one locally. I'm sure this has been covered repeatedly but I don't have an hour to spare searching through old posts to find where it has been covered.

Please someone help.

Thanks in advance

just adjust it and slowly turn it over until it clear when you spin.We have probably done 4-5 motors like this.We have also put a sheet of gasket paper between each side and tighten down.whatever you do,turn it over slowly till it clears all the way around. We have tried it close, wide trying to get it to make a difference in engine performance and it doesn't make a difference. We have cut the vanes back on hub and picked up a degree or two on timing

I got my alignment tool with the new crank sensor I had to buy after trying to guess at it.

Same here. She's new now and clears great. That lil tool is a lifesaver.
