Crank, no start issue.

Added fuel won’t help either.
Crank sensor already replaced

1992 ford ranger with 1993 2.3 engine

Another question is do I need the matching computer to go with the engine? It’s the only thing I don’t have from the 1993.

Probably, though I am no expert. I did buy a new 1992 Ford Ranger XLT after Gulf War One and it always ran perfectly.
Here's an excellent video from Scotty Kilmer:

In a 1993 2.3l the computer just operates the fuel injectors for startup
If you added fuel manually(50/50 test) and no start then its not a fuel issue..................yet
So it is a no spark or no compression issue

No, the computer has no "connection" that would prevent spark from working or change compression

Spark is controlled by the ICM(ignition control module) located on the front side of lower intake manifold
It is connected to the Crank sensor and the 2 coil packs
It should get 12volts with key on as should both coil packs and the crank sensor
Check the red/green wires on coil packs(easy to get to), center wire, see if both have 12volts with key on
If not thats the problem, same red/green wire powers all these devices, could be ignition switch issue

The 1989-1994 ICMs were known to fail, so heads up on that
Another heads up, only the Passenger side spark plugs will work while cranking engine over, No Spark on drivers side, so if you test for spark only test passenger side wires or coil pack

Check compression, its mechanical, so either good or bad no grey area, just need to check one cylinder for now, expected is above 140psi, required for start is above 100psi

I’ll have to see if I can get my hands on a compression tester here soon. Thanks for the help! I’ll be back when I have either good or bad news.
