I currently have a 302 with crankwalk in a 86 regcab shortbed. I have been debating 331 stroker rebuild and came across this? I'm very mechanically inclined but by no means book smart on parts and such... Help me make a smart decision yay or neh...

He is asking $2,500 for it as is...
List of what is in it. Ford Steel crank, PBM forged rods, Keith Black premium forged standard bore pistons, Erson custom grind hyd roller cam, Cloyes double roller timing set, AFR 185 cylinder heads, DSS 1.6 roller rockers, port matched victor jr. intake manifold, holley 750 carb, edelbrock victor mechanical fuel pump, Edelbrock victor waterpump. Canton 7qt oil pan, melling high vol oil pump, summit balancer. Motor was built to be perfect for either street or strip. 9.8:1 and was built to run on pump gas. Like I said, EVERYTHING is brand new and never run. Motor will make approx 425hp at crank. MUST GO don't hesitate to ask questions!!

Is the oilpan going to work with your crossmember?

Are you running EFI or carb?

If he has receipts, then I would say go for it.

IMO, things built by someone else are usually not as good as they think they are...

I dunno if the pan will or not... If not I can use my current pan that I know will fit.

Im running a carb already now..

yea thats what I was thinking. The shortblock was built and balanced by RAZ performance machine in New Jersey. Any of you Jersey boys know this shop??

I sure wouldn't worry about the oil pan either, more on how good it was built. Sure agree abouty some people "thinking" they know what they are doing in a rebuild. I've always left it up to the experts. Sounds like some good parts. In todays economy, good deals to be found.

I havent seen reciepts in person but he has them.. apparently everything was built by professionals and "no rookie touched it". so that being said I believe I will go look at it and check out some reciepts. I figured the parts are worth the money if I can get for cheaper than asking price.

What do you mean by "crank walk" ? Is the torque converter forcing the crank forward ? If it is, then you need to address this issue before swapping engines. The build of that 331 maybe too radical for a truck. Especially with the choice of intake manifold..
