Cracked Frame Repair

So my frame is cracked. I'm going to fix it myself.

What do you think of this for a reinforcement plate? I'm going to use 1/8". The frame isn't much thicker than that. Just beyond the slotted hole on the left the frame bends, that is why I didn't make it any longer.

The holes for the shock mount have a raised circle around them. Would I be better off mounting the plate on the inside of the frame? Mounting on the outside won't allow it to mount flush. Moving the shock mount inwards a 1/8" of an inch shouldn't matter much.

On the cracks I'll drill 1/8" holes at the end of each crack then grind them out and weld them back in.

will work fine on the inside, just drill a bunch of holes for rosette welds into the plate

I had the exact crack in the same spot and i put the plate on the outside. Just drill/grind out those rivits for the shock mount and get some new grade 8 bolts, then weld the plate on the outside and redrill it for the bolts. I cant remember the plate thickness i used but it was between 1/8 and 3/16th

Put the plate on the inside that way it wouln't raise any eyebrows at inspection

Id do this. going at it from the inside sounds like a pain
