I want to put on something like 31" tires. The wider the better. But will i need more of a lift before doing this? I currently have 235/75/R15s on the stock rims. Its a '89 with a bit of a body lift (not sure the amount of lift, came stock like this. Leafs are modified). So how tough would it be to fit 31"s on there? I have a few pics of my truck uploaded here and tomorow will be re-taking the side shot because it was in a format too big to post.

And then it comes to rims... I would like to keep my current rims if possible as they look alright and money doesnt come flying whenever i ask for it lol. I am assuming that they are the stock rims because i have seen a few rangers with the exact ones. They are 15". How does it work with tire sizes? Would i need wider rims to put on bigger and wider tires? Or would they fit on my rims and just bulge out kinda thing?

If anyone has some kind of chart for what tire sizes fit with what lift that would be great as well. My trucks a 1989 Ranger STX (2.9L 4x4). Also, if some of you have this gen ranger with different tire size/lifts could you post if possible so i can see a general idea?

Thanks

your factory rims will hold 31x10.50's just right, if you have 3 inch body lift you dont need anything else. if you really want more lift, then get a set of f150 springs and retaingers, and for the rear get explorer springs and 2 inch drop shackles. r1hatman has an 83 with this setup and no body lift and fits 31's just fine, he rubs but only under full flex.

check my avatar. 1st gen ranger 4x4 with just a 2 inch body lift. i'm running 31 inch tall tires, but they are skinny 215/85x16's. have no problems with them rubbing on anything. not into suspension lifts at all as this is as tall as i'm going. i can fit 32 inch tires if i choose too. this set up fits my needs perfectly. i have other pics posted here some where. not many and was so long ago, forgot where they are... 4x4 pic section i think.

If your truck has the High Rider stock lift you should be able to fit 31" tires without rubbing on the stock rims.
I have a 1989 STX with 31" tires and they fit like it was stock.

idk maybe that is the lift i was talking about. It sits stock pretty high up to be stock is what i thought. My dad said the leafs looked a bit modified. I have a few pics uploaded into my album and avatar now and tomorow will re-take my side-veiw one. I was thinking i could fit it. I am going for as much lift as i can but i dont have a bunch of money to throw into it.

So what all is a factor to consider when offroading? Just stuff like shocks or what to be able to hit bumps and not cringe lol?
