Concerning my '93 2.3 five speed..I'm sure at 155K..the trans and rear end fluids need changing...what do you guys recommend ?? The trans doesn't make any noise..but seems to shift stif..maybe that's just the way it is...no real problem up or down shifting..synchros all seem fine..but sure doesn't shift like a Japanese trans..I'm guessing what's in the trans and rear end is what was put in at the factory..since the plug wires read Ford and were dated 1993...I replaced those and the plugs which seemed to have about a 90 thousandth ga...thanks as always...

Wow a 93 with only 155

Trans is just "Mercon Automatic Transmission Fluid". Do not put gear oil in there. Last time I did it I believe it was 3 quarts but I would buy 4 anyway. Get a fluid pump that fits in the bottle with a hose makes it a lot easier.

Rear end is "SAE90 Hypoid Gear Oil". Also a pump will help a lot.

Mazda

Rear end is SAE

I used Amsoil synthetic ATF in my tranny. Expensive, but worth it in my mind. New fluid by itself should have a different feel because it will be more slippery.

In the rear end, if you have limited skip make sure add friction modifier to the gear lube.

While you are at it, do you have a lot of play in your shifter when the truck is in gear? If so, re do the shifter bushing before changing the fluid. Mine dry rotted, and crumbled down into the tranny fluid. A piece got lodged in an oil channel and caused a wierd noise. Its not a hard repair to do and can also change the feel of the transmission.

no play in the shifter..don't think i have posi rear end ratio is 3:45 according to the code on the door..how would I find out if it is a limited slip diff ??

If it is limited slip the tag will read "3L45" instead of "3 45".

Thanks..just a plain old rear end..lol
