Couple of Duraspark conversion questions

Did anyone else have to bend their automatic transmission dip stick tube, so they could have enough clearance for turning the distributor?

You can always move the timing gear on the dizzy back a couple of teeth. Slowly lift the dizzy up until you can turn it back or forward a couple of teeth. you wont be able to push it all the way down bur lightly preass down on the dizzy with the rotor off so it dont grab your hand and have someone click the ignition until the shaft lines up with the pump then it will slide all the way down. Or you can advance all the wires in one direction to get the same result.

I just bought a motorcraft 2100, can i use the electric choke from the 2150 on the 2100?

I would say yes just be sure and plug the pre heater fitting on the side of the choke housing. Not sure how the choke pull back works on it and I used a older spade type thermostat the bullit type plug that came with the stock carb uses a pulsing voltage and the older spade type run on battery voltage. I was able to put the choke thermostat housing from the feedback carb on the non feedback carb and it plugged the vacuum leak for the preheater.

I put the factory electric pulloff on my early 70's 2100, kind of a mix and match with the linkages.

on my 2100, the fork that fits into the
thermostat was too long for the 2150
housing. i had to snip it off with tin snips
and cut the slot deeper with a hacksaw.

My truck was sitting over a week and i pushed the pedal 1/4 the way down and it fired right up and put it in gear without stalling man what a difference.

OK so i got my carb today but i have a few questions about it.

what do i do with these two holes.

And how do i put a ball on the throttle part so i can connect it to my throttle cable on my B2

The one on the bottom choke side is probably ported vac no vacuum when the throttle is at an idle and gets vac as the throttle is opened. The one on the back looks like it might be the pulloff when you apply vacuum it will open the choke to the cold run position or opens the choke about 1/4 inch when the engine starts to keep it from flooding I think it is plugged into manifold vacuum the porteed vac on the choke side can be plugged if your not using it is more for the EGR system to close the egr at an idle.

So do i need to use them or just plug them?

I just use mine for the air pump valves the ported one by the choke you can play with the other one and see what it does there is a diaphram on the top of the carb i believe for the choke pull off the one on the back controls that plug it into the vacuum tree and see what it does Do you have one by the drivers side idle adjust needle on the front bottom of the carb and did you get the spacer # 60529 for the bottom of the carb.

You only need the manifold vacuum for the dizzy, one for the PCV and the other for the brake booster everything else gets plugged unless you need the choke pull off and all can be run off the tree.

I have not got the spacer. All i have right now is the carb. So for everything else is the list on the duraspark page everything i need and are those all the right pieces?

Dizzy ,adaptor ,cap & rotor, module, 3 and 4 wire connectors I got mine out of a 84 ranger 4 cyl and you can use the stock coil. The spacer fixes the vacuum leak you will have if you try and use the stock spacer. I also glued a piece of 180 grit sandpaper to a piece of flat plywood to surface the carb flat the ears get bent over time just take it down slow and even till it scratches all the way around evenly.

you should be able to buy the ball at a good parts store.
the old ford ones are bigger and won't work.
i live 25 miles from the parts store, so i cut that section off
a carb with a broken base and drilled a hole in it and bolted
it to my 2100. that works good enough so i haven't looked
for the right part. i wouldn't wreck a good carb that way tho.
if i do this again, i will turn one on a lathe.

OK so what about the two pigtails on the duraspark page. Do i need to buy those? IT also says something about a harness in the walk through?

Will i need my computer after the duraspark?
