couldn't think of a better way to spend a sunday morning

IIRC here when we do Burns the EPA has to go through an check it out an make sure the bad stuffs pulled out before hand.

No kidding? I'll take your word for it as I'm sure you know your line of work well

Looking back, I was 16 years old and didn't give a shit. I knew what we were doing was illegal as fawk and so did my boss... but that is just the way things worked. I probably wouldn't have done it if it had been insulation. Also wouldn't do it again today if I had the opportunity.

it all goes back to the saying SHIT HAPPENS. I think my guiltiest one was when I ran out of asbestos bags and ran some asbestos drywall to the bed of my Ranger:icon_idea: . that was one dusty SOB. I think my death will involve mesothelioma:dunno:

Why in the hell are you in that line of work anyway? I know the money is good but damn... that is about the last job on earth I would do.

wouldnt go that far:D

but yeah its a bunch of paperwork and fees to be paid to be allowed to do it so im assuming something like that is done. maybe not EPA per say but some agency doing something.

Yeah i just put the wet stuff on the red stuff though im at the bottom of the ladder where i like it.

Because I'm a few months shy of 20 , have a GED, and am damn good at it. Right now I am at 12 bucks an hour. workers with 5 years plus experience average 16. I have the knowledge but not quite the years of experience to be supervisor which will net me 20-22 bucks an hour and get me out of containment and labor for the most part. I absolutely hate this dirty unhealthy shit and hate waking uo having a hard time moving because I last worked a nonstop 18 hour shift but, this offers excellent career advancement and then I'll make big bucks. Supervisor talks with the customer getting the work done, deals with county inspector douche, steers guys in the right direction, than sleeps in his air conditioned truck! just 2-5 more years of hell:icon_thumby:

He drives a ranger....... how good can the money be?

Frank

It was Burgundy........ the "burgundy bomber"

and she was one bad SOB.......... and i got back half of what I had invested, and I still dream about driving that truck again one day.

but who really needs 1000ftlb of trq right? :bawling:

Frank

no sir. unfortunatly im all too familier with your avatar pic:bawling:

As was I, I took that one right from my Ranger. Not off the internet. This is why working at the dealership has been a great help. Got my tuck all figured and happy, at least for another 20 thou until I have to get the plugs changed again.

Wow... this went off topic a bit, lol

Hey Matt, did you hear about the new EPA regs for remodeling contractors that goes into effect April of this year? Yea, they're going to make every contractor have crew members certified in removal of lead paint and such. I wonder if that'll cause the creation of sub contractors to do the removal like you do with asbestos or if it'll just kill off all of the small-time remodelers.

It really balences itself out. Most of this companies want nothing to do with anything hazardous. The deal is these contractors cannot touch anything lead without certs. I also do lead and think it will make the lead market take off again as it has been pretty dead.
