couldn't think of a better way to spend a sunday morning

Those guys deserve to be kicked off, and have whatever credentials or licenses that relate to FF or EMT taken away from them.

Joking around or not, there's no excuse for that.

Who cares? I don't.......... they did there job. They just didn't run anybody of the road getting there.

Your welcome to kick off the only 5 firefighters we have in a town of 400.......... then everything can burn to the ground, hell yeah.
They take off work everytime there is a fire or some idiot burns a steak over a privacy fence.
I'm proud to have them around.

My pictures got lost, but I did have a nice set of pictures of a mobile home that burned to the ground. There was only the frame and some assorted metal things that didn't burn. There were metal bed springs and laying on one of them, looking only slightly used was a Nomex fire suit the guy had left laying on his bed. It was a very impressive statement on the value of wearing one.

i think if my lawn mower was burnin up in my garage thats attached to my house.I WOULD PROLLY TELL THEM THAT!!!!

Good pics. I never get to see the actual fires in buildings but have seen a bunch of cars on fire.

One time I drove through one of South Dakota's indian reservations and there were a bunch of little kids dancing around a burning car in their driveway. No joke.

Well... Aluminum will burn... and IIRC it's use for the armor on Bradley APCs....
Indeed alloyed aluminum is, along with lamination 'belts' and very high-hardness rating steel skirting. Aluminum doesn't burn so much as it melts.

Magnesium burns out of control because it self-oxidizes as it burns.

This morning I got up early and heading to the fire hall to meet up with a few members to go to a house burning. it was a controlled burn and was done very safely so it was very interesting thing to see.
Just getting started

Not gonna hurt anybody more than bulldozing it, burying it, and building a subdivision over the landfill will.

False. They test all building materials in doubt. After that they bring in a crew, like me and my crew, to remove all ACM (asbestos containing materials). Than air samples are taking by an environmental inspection company. the air cannot have more than .01 PPM(parts per million) asbestos or the clearence will not be givin and the area will continue being a contained area until the the standards are met. When the said building is bulldozed it no longer contains any asbestos.

We used to chip asbestos tile out, shovel it out of a window into a trailer, and take it to the dump. Or just dig a hole in the side of a hill with a bobcat and bury it.

I know what the rules are but they are always broken.

Asbestos was used for years...... it only cought a bad rap because of the sewer workers in the big cities were breathing the brake dust and it caused lung cancer.......

It wasn't like the beubonic plague.
My boss played in the stuff when he was a kid.
My moms school had asbestos ceiling insulation.......

my house had it around the heat ducts when i was a kid.

Everything causes cancer...... but just because it can kill you doesn't mean it will.

Modern day they are broken but diffrently it seems most companies have the EPA brething down our necks.

BTW please ignore the fact that my drivers side floormat contains pieces of vinyl acm tile and popcorn ceiling fragments. or the black mastic all over my bedliner:dunno: .

i dont always wear my suit respirator and tend to smoke in containment next to my negative air machine.

I guess my bottom line is asbestos is a natural material. Your company while causing possible harm to the employees were able to bulk remove the asbestos(btw tile is non friable anyway) and dispose of it. as you release it outside it floats to rather high altitude and stays suspended. as you take it to the landfill you dispose of it where it belongs(im sure not double 6 mil bagged with generator labels but w/e). as you bury it you put it back where it came from as asbestos is mined. this house had a crowd around it as the air was released creating a hazardous situation for the people unknowingly. none of them will know their sick for 10-40 years

Asbestos is very hazardous. the issue with the cancer is only one of three illnesses asbestos related. As long as asbestos is left undamaged and undisturbed it is harmless.

IIRC here when we do Burns the EPA has to go through an check it out an make sure the bad stuffs pulled out before hand.

Looking back, I was 16 years old and didn't give a shit. I knew what we were doing was illegal as fawk and so did my boss... but that is just the way things worked. I probably wouldn't have done it if it had been insulation. Also wouldn't do it again today if I had the opportunity.
