Could washing the engine kill something?

I washed my daughters engine, an 88 2.3 liter with MAF, distributor, fuel injection.

I covered the alternator coil abd distributor with baggies. But now the truck won't start. Where to start looking? I checked and do have spark.

fuel pump relay.

i wash my engines regularly and the usual problems are either relays that quit working, or moisture under the cap.

Good advice, thanks. What's the easiest way to tell if you are getting fuel?

Check fuel at the schraeder valve on the fuel rail at the end closest to the firewall. You could also be getting crossfire or the spark is going to ground on the cam cover or down in the plug wells. Damp wires are not a good thing. The fuel pump relay in mine is next to the ECM on the passenger kick panel. If you have a fuse block under hood, I'd check that and make sure that it is dry.

Well, it was just my ignorance. I had the plug wires hooked up wrong (which is exactly what it sounded like).

Hooked up correctly... starts and runs great. Thanks
